OFCA is a mandatory wireless certification in Hong Kong, and radio frequency and telecommunications products sold in Hong Kong must meet its requirements and apply for certification, and display the mark and accreditation number on the product. OFCA stands for Office of the Communications Authority and was established on 1 April 2012 as the Office of the Telecommunications Authority.
Under the Compulsory Certification Scheme, it is mandatory to apply for certification for telecommunications equipment. Before being used or sold in Hong Kong, the telecommunications equipment must be verified as complying with one of the following specifications:
(1) the relevant HKCA specifications;
(2) technical standards prescribed or approved by the Secretary for the Communication, e.g. without relevant HKCA specifications;
(3) Specifications equivalent to (1) or (2) above.
